Since its inception in 1989, the Nairobi Trio has become New Zealand’s favourite jazz band, touring throughout the world and appearing at major festivals in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, Australia and Asia. Now in its 20th year, the Nairobi Trio has released a total of eight albums and is more passionate about music than ever. On tour, the Nairobi Trio performs as a quartet, adding Andrew Dixon to the line up. The performance is contagious, expressive, and often improvised. Well-loved jazz standards are re-worked, but the Nairobi Trio is perhaps best known for skillfully crafted original pieces, often evoking images of New Zealand’s beautiful landscape and cultural diversity.
