Favourite songs from the choir, soloists and ensembles.
The Nelson Civic Choir’s history dates back more than 100 years, when it was first formed as part of the Nelson Harmonic Society. The choir performs major works from the choral repertoire, such as requiems and masses, but its annual appearance at the Winter Festival sees it in a light mood. Enjoy an afternoon of music from Gilbert and Sullivan, popular musicals, opera choruses and folk songs.
Conductor Pete Rainey plays trumpet in the Mojo Funk Orchestra, is co-director of the
Smokefreerockquest and is a Nelson City Councillor.
The Schola Musica Youth Chamber Orchestra, directed by Margaret Jackson, will play works by Telemann, Holst and Hardiman.
‘…a great concert, which deservedly received a standing ovation from the full house.’ Nelson Mail
