Matteo, Lilia and Friends

Aroha Music Society presents Matteo, Lilia and friends live in concert at Frontline in Kerikeri, Tuesday 28th July at 7pm.

As well as performances by Matteo and Lilia, this will feature musicians playing flute, classical saxophone, recorder, cello, violin, piano and clarinet.

Matteo captured worldwide attention early in his career with first and second places in many piano competitions, including first place in the International Liszt competition in 1986 in Lucca, Italy. Since then, he has appeared as both performer and teacher in Italy, Europe, the Americas, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. He has recorded four albums for Naxos Records and his fifth and sixth recordings are scheduled in the near future.

Lilia is a soprano who, since arriving in New Zealand in early 2008, has made a significant impact on music performance and education in Northland. Winner of various international competitions, she is recognised worldwide and has performed in Italy, Israel, Palestine, China and Austria. In addition to teaching voice, she also has extensive skills as a choral teacher and conductor.

Local and regional musicians and music lovers have formed a new group - the Aroha Music Society, to promote music education and the enjoyment of music in Northland.

The new group has worked with the Kerikeri School of Music to secure the continuing work of Matteo Napoli and Lilia Carpinelli in Northland.
