A new play by, and starring Michael Galvin (The Ocean Star, New Gold Dream)
Sons, lovers, and the end of the world. International events collide with personal preoccupations in Michael Galvin’s darkly funny new play. Led by a charismatic television presenter turned religious zealot (Galvin), a mother and son share a rollercoaster journey from drab suburbia to Jerusalem and a devastating act of terrorism.
Trapped by the dream-like logic of their story (which follows the stations of the cross) and bickering as they go, they negotiate a confusing world in which nothing is quite what it seems. Crackling with wit and intelligence, Station to Station takes a compelling and moving look at our desire for certainty in an ultimately unknowable world.
“Galvin is a talented writer. He has a gift for quirky characterisation and sharp, snappy dialogue. There’s also a lovely generosity of spirit and optimism beneath the blackness.” Natasha Hay, Review of The Ocean Star, NZ Listener.
