Sculpture in cast glass and metal by three emerging talents; diVas cuts through generalisations that pervade our psyche.
Cold materials, worked with tenderness of the subject, can offer subtlety of suggested conflicts, impressions and emotions when seen in different lights.
Gill ruminates on historical and modern theories of mankind, based on years of research both written and practical. Using specialised cast glass techniques she produces delicate and understated works.
Conversely, Catharina is bold and often quite forthright in her approach, and is highly skilled in cast glass too. She prefers to use snippets of society as a platform to build her ideas on. Her underlining passion is commercial structures and architecture.
Tui sifts and delves through New Zealand’s iconography and history, to dig at whom and what define our culture and gender related roles. Domestic metalware, and items from our society are combined to create conceptual and often slightly kitsch works.
Together we live by similar rules but debate these regularly, justifying their reason for being.
