Wild Moa Multisport Event: CANCELLED

The Wild Moa Multisport Event has gained a reputation as one of the most stunning multisport races in the country since the inaugural event in 2003.

It starts at stunning Lake Okataina with a 4km road and bush track run before paddlers embark on their two lake 16km journey. Lakes Okataina and Tarawera are linked by a 1km bush track portage (boat carry).

The 30km mountain bike leg begins with 5km of sealed road before entering the forest at Blue Lake lookout and partaking in the best single tracks of the forest.

The emphasis in course design is always to use the fun flowing single tracks – avoiding some of the more technical and rutted ones – and provide a balance with forest road riding. This year the tweaks to incorporate new tracks went down a treat with the experienced riders raving about the flowing course.

The final 15km run leg is a challenging and very scenic loop starting and finishing at the majestic Redwoods.

For those not keen on the Kayak we also run a triathlon version of the event which replaces the kayak with a 1km Swim in Lake Tarawera.
