The Rotorua BluesFeast Trust is pleased to announce a delectable line-up of Blues, beverage and cuisine in Rotorua for BluesFeast 2009, on Sunday 25 January. It will be held on the lawn at Rotorua Arts Village Experience from 12noon. Seating and shade will be provided.
The annual event gets even better this summer as international and local musicians serve up some very stylish fare, all in the Blues genre. The inclusion of overseas acts, Australians ‘Wizard and Oz’ and Paul Garner direct from the UK, is exciting news for festival organisers, and is an indication of the event’s growth in popularity amongst both artists and festival goers alike.
Andrew Farrell and David MacMillan, make up Melbourne’s “Wizard and Oz” and this piano and guitar duo delight audiences everywhere with their take on jazz, blues and rock. Ex-pat Kiwi and now UK resident Paul Garner has been making a big name as a professional muso in London, with tours to France, Norway, Germany and Ireland in 2008 and a brand new CD release over Christmas.
Patrons of BluesFeast can boogie to a wealth of Kiwi blues talent too, including Auckland’s ‘The Jukes’, ‘Kokomo’ and ‘Brilleaux’ from Tauranga and many of the Bay Of Plenty Blues Club’s very own talented performers. These include, amongst others Rotorua’s Anton ‘Tipi’ Elkington, himself a veteran of many years playing overseas. There’s rumoured to be an all-star jam at the end, too!
BluesFeast is the perfect hot, summer afternoon destination for Auckland Anniversary weekend, blending cool music on the big stage with a selection of food from a variety of cultures, wines, beers and other local beverages.
Tickets for BluesFeast 2009 will be available from RAVE, The Belgian Bar in Arawa Street, NZ Rockshops throughout the region, and at the gate on the day.
