Luminate is an earth friendly festival of music, dance, art, creativity and sustainability.

Featuring an extensive range of inspiring workshops on sustainable living and other holistic topics, Luminate also includes a healing zone, the flamingjugglepoitoyzone with fire performers at night and circus skills workshops by day, drum circle and acoustic jam zone, movies and documentaries, organic refreshments, market stalls, plus 2 zones of cranking live music, world grooves, DJs, VJs and performers from Aotearoa and overseas....all set in a pristine hilltop environment surrounded by native bush.

Join us to celebrate the ancient summer harvest festival of Lughnasadgh, mid way between the solstice and equinox.

Luminate is an authentic zero waste event: there will be no rubbish bins or recycling on site. Be prepared to pack out what you bring in and leave no trace.

Luminate: to spread light, elevate spiritual consciousness, put a smile on your face.

I buy pet food from the supermarket and put it in the SPCA and Cat Protection League bins when I can, I also donate to Greenpeace every month, almost always refuse plastic bags from the supermarket and try to buy Fair Trade where possible. I love buying presents for people and put a lot of thought into them as well as helping out friends and family when I can. I think the best message I can think of is to treat others the way you would like to be treated.

I read the news and the supermarket specials each week for the blind, so they can know what's going on and know what groceries are cheaper, so they too can save money.

I find being completely ridiculous is a guaranteed way to make people happy. It's actually pretty simple.

To me, the most effective and most meaningful way to spread light, and love, is first to give back to nature what she's given us, and to show her absolute respect. We, as a race, cannot be truly happy unless our earth is content. I love picking up litter of the beaches, as it's my way of saying thanks to nature for being so beautiful - and i'll do whatever i can to keep it that way. Although i'm not directly putting a smile on someones face, i hope i can help bring smiles, and raise awareness of how rubbish ruins the pristine surroundings we've been gifted here in NZ. To me it's a huge step towards true happiness, and heartfelt smiles.

Once a year I donate Christmas gifts to various charitys, every two months a small portion of my power bill goes to Oncology Trust, every week I do part of my teenage son's chores and still give him pocket money, each day I click on the free mammogram site, but above all the most cheer I have ever spread was the day after a really good curry while in my flatting days. I felt some flatulence coming on just as my sister hopped into the shower and decided to share the love. I slipped into my sister's very small room and left a pungent reminder of a great meal. The rest of the faltties waited in the living room with anticipation for her to return to her room - we were not disappointed and the good cheer at my poor sister's expense lasted for ages! A good fart can do wonders, pity it can't be packaged and shared around in times of hardship :o)

So many people insist on only talking about others ONLY when they know of something negative about them.. why not instead insist on doing the opposite!! Take your chance in conversations to talk about the people who have been kind, generous or empathetic towards you.. tell friends and strangers the fabuolous qualities you find in them, that bring you joy! If u find yourself part of a conversation where someone starts running another down, either leave the conversation or point out, If you dont have anything nice to say.. just shush.. wouldnt you like someone to do the same for you?! There is so much hatred in the world, why do we need to tear each other down and only add to it! THE MORE LOVE WE EACH DEMONSTRATE THE MORE HAPPINESS WE BRING TO THE WORLD.. HAPPINESS BRINGS PEACE AND FROM PEACE WE WILL HAVE FREEDOM TO SHOW LOVE!! Its a cycle, we just all need to do our part to keep it going!!
    SMILE - COMFORT - CARE - LOVE - EMBRACE - GIVE - DANCE

I'm a teacher. I spread the light by teaching and setting a positive example. As Ghandi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

What better way to luminate someones life than to smile from your eyes as much as you can, have a ready hug and a listening ear. Share the love without expectation of return but know that you have been there for your fellow travellers in this mad, mad world. :)

i'd like to travel to a third world country as a volunteer to help with construction and education, or just anything that i may be of use doing. it would be something you could look back on and be proud of, knowing that you've helped to change the lives of people in struggling communities.
