In conjunction with Emirates Team New Zealand and with the assistance of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron , Louis Vuitton has announced plans to host an international regatta here in Auckland utilising the two Emirates Team New Zealand race yachts, NZL84 and NZL92 and two boat loaned by BMW Oracle Racing.

Racing will commence on Friday 30 January 2009 with the finals set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday 12 - 14 February 2009.

Five daily match races are planned on a two-mile windward-leeward course laid at the entrance to the Waitemata Harbour, between Rangitoto and the city.
