Imagine winning one million dollars!
Well, someone on Sunday 25 January will (though they'll actually be the owner of the horse that wins the Karaka Million race).
BUT . . . to celebrate the million dollar race, Ellerslie is putting on Auckland's Ultimate Million Dollar Party as the second installment of the Lindauer Twilight Summer Series!
The great news about this is that it's a public holiday the day after; so you can come along, watch six great races, rub shoulders with racing's royalty as some of the best 2-yr-old graduates from New Zealand Bloodstock's 2008 National Yearling Sales fight it out for $1,000,000 in stakes in the Karaka Million, party long into the night to the sounds of Jordan Luck (formerly of The Exponents) and his band and THEN get to sleep in the next morning!
Racing action starts at 5.10pm (Karaka Million is at 7.23pm) with six races played out in a fast paced format, matched by plenty of spectacle off the track - for the entertainment experience! The racing wraps up at 7.55pm when The infamous Birdcage Bash will start up and kick the party on 'til late!
Like to dress up? Well the ZM Stars and Studs fashion competition is back! Twilight racing is fun and flirtatious, its racing when the sun goes down so dress for cocktail hour and prepare to party! If you're dressed to impress you could win one of two $1, 000 prizes on the night courtesy of www.fashionz.co.nz.
