The NZSO is delighted to be offering three special performances as a free summer treat!
UK based conductor Tecwyn Evans is fast establishing himself as one of the most successful New Zealand conductors with regular appearances at the BBC Proms, Glyndebourne, Opera North and with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Nicolas Alstaedt, first prize winner of the New Zealand 2006 Adam International Cello Competition, is a rising German cellist who plays with astonishing power and command and is armed with a fearless technique that seems to know no limitations. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2007.
The concert features a new commission by New Zealand composer Anthony Ritchie's French Overture, the delightfully tuneful and jolly Haydn Cello Concerto in C major and to finish – Beethoven’s Symphony No 4 – one of the most exhilarating of Beethoven’s nine symphonies.
