The 65 piece Central Band of the RNZAF from Wellington is on a tour throughout the North Island. Presenting entertaining concerts for schools and the public, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
With music ranging from classics to new, Tchaikovsky to ABBA, the concert by the Air Force Band will include something for everyone. Guest performers include NZ vocalists Bella Kalolo and Stephanie Paris, as well as an array of soloists, drummers, singers, bagpipers and more from the talented musicians of the band. Whether you are five or 75 you will take something away from this concert.
Ticket prices are low to make the concert affordable for all. They are available from a range of outlets for this tour, which includes concerts in Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo and Hastings.
The Central Band of the RNZAF is New Zealand's biggest Symphonic Band and has instruments ranging from brass, woodwind and saxophones through to drums, electric bass and guitar. The variety of music played by the band is astounding and the standard is high. Members of the band also perform with such groups as the NZSO, Vector Wellington Orchestra, Rodger Fox Big Band and more.
The Band was formed in 1935 and is one of New Zealand's principal military bands. As well as presenting school and public concerts, the band parades at ceremonial and state occasions for visiting dignitaries as well as military commemorations. Members of the band have travelled overseas, performing in events such as the NZ Memorial Service in London, ANZAC Day services in Australia and Gallipoli, and at other occasions.
