Beethoven - Symphony No. 5 in C Minor

This first concert of 2009 features three great classical dramatic pieces:
Beethoven's ever popular and dramatic 5th Symphony, the overture to one of Mozart's greatest operas and his amazing 20th Piano Concerto which repeats much of the opera's doom-laden atmosphere.

Lucy Zeng is sixteen years old and is a year 12 student at Epsom Girls Grammar School. She currently studies piano with Rae de Lisle. Lucy has performed as soloist in Mozart piano concertos with the Aotea Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, she won many prizes in the North Shore, South Auckland and Te Awamutu performing arts competitions, two IRMT scholarships and second place in the Mazda Foundation National Young Performer Awards.
