Auckland Premier Baseball: Round 9

Summer is heating up and so is the action on the baseball diamonds of Auckland.

The Auckland Premier Baseball season rolls on this weekend with the top players from the Auckland competition taking to the field in the ninth round of the Auckland Championship.

The Premier West City team lines up this week in a double header putting them up against the other two top sides of the competition, in a round which may be season defining for the club.

Taking to the field at 1.00pm, the West City side opens the day against the Angels.

In what is set to be one of the most exciting games this season, West City face the winners of last seasons divisional league, so get there early to support your boys.

In the second game of the day the Howick Cyclones head across town to meet the West City team in part II of their double header.

As the only team to have beaten West City this season, the Howick team will be confident of knocking off the home team who will likely be wary heading into their second game of the day. The West City team however, will be looking to keep strong in their build up to the National Championships in February where they are hoping to regain the National Club Championship title they won in 2006 and 2007.

The newly upgraded ballpark out west is now an even greater place to spend a Sunday!

So grab your friends and family, bring a picnic and some sunscreen, and get down to your local ballpark at McLeod Park to check out the action.
