The iconic Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Streetfest will celebrate its 9th anniversary with more than 20 bands entertaining over 30,000 fans with great music and a festival atmosphere on Saturday 28 February 2009.
The event is an outdoor jazz and blues street music festival at one of Auckland’s most stunning outdoor venues, Mission Bay. Situated along the Eastern Beaches of Tamaki Drive and set amongst a stretch of popular cafes and restaurants, retailers and an extensive park area, Mission Bay is one of Auckland City’s most popular and iconic waterfront locations and has become a venue for Aucklanders to visit year round.
Unique to the event is the closure of Tamaki Drive in the Mission Bay area, which allows bands to play on the street itself and thousands of fans into the venue to enjoy an amazing musical event with friendly atmosphere, dining, dancing and festivity.
Fans can enjoy over 20 New Zealand bands and international acts made up of over 100 musicians who will entertain spectators from 6.00pm – 11.00pm within the scenic location of Mission Bay, Selwyn Reserve and Tamaki Drive. Continuous concerts on various stages located within the venue, as well as two beach front stages, ensures a night of non-stop entertainment at what has become one of Auckland’s most popular waterfront locations.
Featuring Pugsley Buzzard (Australia), Graham Brazier and Dave McArtney (from Hello Sailor) and Shayn 'Hurricane' Wils (Wellington) just to name a few, the Mission Bay Jazz & Blues Streetfest offers great value for five hours of live music and entertainment.
The event is liquor free; however alcoholic refreshments will be available in the surrounding bars and restaurants and designated hospitality areas inside the venue. The venue comprises of two licenced areas with the general/remaining area being liquor free zones. A multitude of food and beverage options are available inside the venue, as well as Art & Craft markets for all to experience.
