PICNIC (Sandwiches) and GeorgeFM presents:
Norman Jay MBE
Good Times
Sound System | BBC Radio1 London

Celebrate Waitangi in style – with Good Times sounds and Sale St. hospitality . . .

Packaged in a rhythmic brown paper bag, delivered in a summertime hamper full of fresh and funky goodness – from your cuzzies down there in Wellington comes PICNIC (Sandwiches) . . . for the humble beginnings of this new Auckland party brand, we are proud to bring back the former headline act of Groove in the Park and Sandwiches SummerSet, the one and only Norman Jay!

An innovative and pioneering British DJ, Norman Jay first came to prominence in the early 1980s, through warehouse clubs and the London pirate radio station Kiss 100. Norman's show became legendary, and he soon joined Gilles Peterson at his label Talkin' Loud. His diverse and deep musical knowledge and his refusal to be restricted to playing from any single genre distinguishes him from his peers.

He is now one of the most prolific DJ / hosts on BBC Radio 1 (London), and his Good Times Sound System is a major attraction to many music fans who attend the legendary two day UK festival Notting Hill Carnival. So Influential has Norman Jay been, that he was awarded an MBE for services to music.

Jay describes himself as a house music DJ, but the Good Times concept includes classic 70s and 80s funk, soul and Jazz-funk, and The BBC website describes his music as "the cream of 70s disco with the latest club anthems”. His latest album “Norman Jay MBE – GOOD TIMES” is on the Conch shelves now!

With the help of our friends at GeorgeFM, Norman will be well supported - soul brothers The TurnAround’s Manuel Bundy and Submariner will set the scene, and completing the dancefloor shenanigans Mr Clarke Gayford.

This is the start of a new era in entertainment – we see great things to come for the discerning music fans of Auckland. What better way to start in 2009 than with an intimate pick(nic) and soulful selection of the best of GOOD TIMES!

So on the eve of our Waitangi Day national holiday, get on down to Sale St. 9.00pm start – Norman Jay on early, and let the good times roll.

Tickets on sale NOW from iTicket or Conch Records (Ponsonby Rd - 09 360 1999).
