Donations to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009 will be accepted at the Race Day Office throughout the day.

This day of racing at Ellerslie sees the running of the $100,000 Championship Stakes over a distance of 2100m.

This race is considered the final lead-up for the $2.2million Telecom New Zealand Derby set to be held on the first day of Auckland Cup Week (28 February - 7 March) and the first three placegetters in the Championship Stakes will gain exemption from ballot in the Telecom New Zealand Derby.

Make sure you come along to Ellerslie and cheer on the horses in the Championship Stakes as they attempt to make the final field in New Zealand's richest race!
