Carolina Moon Jazz Group

Fresh from her successful performance at the Woollaston Nelson Jazz Festival on 5 January Carolina Moon and her jazz group have dates in February, March and April.

She is booked for monthly appearances at Coopers Creek Winery over the next three months and will take part in the annual Auckland Music in the Parks series and at a Wellington Jazz Club event on 15 March.

The Carolina Moon Jazz Group is an exciting NZ jazz group who are part of a growing, new generation of accomplished, talented jazz musicians changing the face of NZ jazz. With truly international roots, the CMJG features the exhilarating musical partnership of UK/Australian vocalist Carolina Moon and outstanding tenor sax player, Roger Manins.

Carolina's warm, articulate jazz delivery, and her ability to cut to the heart of a lyric in an extraordinary range of styles and languages are earning her the praise of critics, peers, concert-goers and connoisseurs of quality music alike. Manins, whose soaring, passionate sound was honed from his years of playing in New York and Australia, has been described as "one of the most exciting and explosive saxophonists in Australasia".

CMJG concerts offer a veritable feast of musical genres and imaginative arrangements. Their hallmark sound is smooth, fresh, with a contemporary edge, upon which Moon’s highly interactive style, her unison work and interplay with Manins — are the icing on the cake!

CMJG repertoire includes classic jazz standards from the American Songbook that share the stage with elegant flavours of French chanson, Latin American rhythms, free flowing bebop lines and some cutting edge contemporary jazz repertoire.
