Bella’s is the big, powerful voice of soul. She is one of New Zealand’s most exciting new artists. Her style is ‘edgy soul’ with an international funk jazz influence. he combination of Bella’s voice and the masterful sounds of the Soul Symphony make for a full big band sound. Combined with the gorgeous surroundings of the St James First Floor Gallery “Life is a Cabaret” series, it will be a voice and a night to remember.
If you love Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Jill Scott you’ll love Bella Kalolo.
Bella and the Soul Symphony will feature Bella’s original songs including “I Feel Like I’m in Love”, “Good Things” and her new release “Walk to Change” plus some big soul favourites for good measure.
Bella Kalolo is of Samoan, Tongan and Maori (Ngati Porou) descent. She has worked extensively as a vocalist for the last ten years performing and recording with Don McGlashan, Dave Dobbyn, Hollie Smith, Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke, Susan Lynch, the NZSO, Carl Doy, Nathan Haines and the Pink Floyd Experience 2009. Bella’s voice will be recognisable to fans of Dancing with the Stars where she has sung for the last three seasons. She played a lead role in TV 2’s kids series ‘Jandals Away’ and was in ‘Sione’s Wedding’.
Bella is about to release her second single and first music video. She has written and recorded a song for the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal CD (estimated to go double Platinum) and a song in the New Zealand feature film Matariki to be released early 2010.
Come hear Bella - she will amaze you.
This is a general admission show so come along early to secure your seats. You can then relax with your friends over a sumptuous bottle of wine, yummy food and snacks available for purchase at the venue.
