Monroe was originally signed by The Platters founder and manager Buck Ram in 1968. Powell has certainly created a legacy of his own. Today, through his leadership of world-wide Concert and Cabaret appearances of The Platters, he may be the most well known Platter of all.
Buck Ram led The Platters to their first recording contract with Mercury Records and in ’56 “Only You” became The Platters first gold record. Under Ram’s careful direction and management The Platters garnered 16 gold records and attained international fame and immortality through the romantic ballads that continue to be played and loved all over the world today.
