New Zealand’s top comedians are back at Auckland’s Powerstation.
Iconic venue to host ‘Pulp Comedy: Xmas Special 09’ on Saturday Dec. 19.

Following its refurbishment The Powerstation in Auckland is, once again, set to become a premium venue for live comedy when New Zealand’s leading comedians return to wrap up the year with one big Christmas gig on Saturday, December 19th.
One of the godfathers of the local NZ comedy scene and host of TV3’s ‘7 DAYS’, Jeremy Corbett, will host the show.

He will be joined by leading comedians and co-stars of TV3’s ‘7 DAYS’ show, Paul Ego and Ben Hurley. Also rounding out the bill are Simon McKinney, 2008 Billy T Comedy Award winner, Steve Wrigley and music parody man, Gish.

Six of New Zealand’s best comedians in a 2hour plus show, fully seated and licensed, in the ‘Classic’ cabaret style.

For 7 years from 1995, The Powerstation played an important part in the growth and development of the local comedy scene. The first big gigs featuring local comedians were staged there and the venue was used to record 2 series of the Pulp Comedy TV show before it closed under a cloud in 2003.
“The Powerstation is one of the best live comedy rooms in New Zealand and, following its refurbishment, it’s looking really smart” said local producer, Scott Blanks, who was responsible for many of the early comedy shows at the venue. “It’s like a big version of our home at The Classic in Auckland which is now struggling to cope with demand during our busy seasons. We will be decking out the Powerstation with candle lit tables and comfortable seating for 500 people. Our top comedians are going to enjoy being back.”
