Aoraki "Ice Breaker" Dragon Boat Regatta

Aoraki Dragons ran this very popular start-of-the-season event for the first time in early December 2008.

Christchurch Teams have hit the water (Avon River) for their season's training. And now they are very keen to front up at the Ice Breaker again. There will be first-time paddlers in many of the teams, and they will be keen to see what a real race feels like. So join us to see how they go!

Experience the colour, the noise and the up-close excitement of Dragon Boating. Plenty of free viewing from the grassy banks of the Avon, including Locksley Ave.

[Note: Aoraki had hoped to christen the fantastic new lake at Pegasus Township, but unfortunately the property developers cannot guarantee safety and security at the site, so Aoraki hopes to return for the "Early Bird" regatta in late February.]

High tide at Kerr's Reach is at about 10:30 am (2.6m), hence the early start.
