Lucy and the Sensations present “A Celebration of Life” through music and dance featuring up and coming artists. A charity fundraiser event for Head and Neck Cancer.
Lucy Bennett will lead her World Peace Choir in uplifting songs from around the globe. Among the talented line up of performers are contemporary dancers under the direction of accomplished choreographer and dancer, Melanie Turner, whose work was featured in the recent Tempo dance festival; the beautiful tenor voice of Ervin Gatoloai, an emerging talent who will be accompanied by well known musician Michael Bell; and the brilliant Long Bay College Funk band. The evening will also see an exciting array of acts such as clowns, rock music, performance poetry, classical pianists and belly dancers.
The proceeds from the evening will be put towards commissioning a work of art for the radiation department at Auckland Hospital. Five years ago drama teacher, actor and professional singer, Lucy Bennett, was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer (a very rare form of cancer in such a young woman in New Zealand). Each day for seven weeks Lucy underwent radiation treatment where she was required to lie very still and would stare at the dots on the ceiling tiles. She made it her mission to replace those dots with a work of art to inspire others to get well.
We hope that you will join us for an eclectic evening of song, music, fun and laughter.
