Join artist Elizabeth Thomson and 'Fixated: Photography Through History' curator Ruth Harvey for an interesting discussion on photography.
Elizabeth Thomson is a contemporary New Zealand sculptor who works with materials such as bronze, glass, resin and fibreglass. She began her art career as a printmaker, working with processes like photoetching, and her sculptural work continues to show traces of the photographic elements that shaped much of her early prints.
Ruth Harvey is Curator of Pictorial Collections at Puke Ariki and the exhibition curator of 'Fixated: Photography Through History'. Her interest in photography stems from working several years at the Centre for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne and postgraduate study looking at the influence of photography on installation art.
This event is part of the 'Fixated: Photography Through History' exhibition at Puke Ariki (31 July – 26 October 2009).
