In 2007 the friends of the Hawke's Bay Cultural Trust fundraised for the conservation of several works in the Fine Art Collection which required urgent attention. Members of the public were invited to 'adopt a painting', funding its conservation in exchange for receiving detailed reports on the conservation process and ongoing recognition for the part they played in the history of this artwork.
In Rescue Me we are taking this successful programme to the general public, exhibiting both recently conserved artworks, as well as those which are in desperate need of conservation. Here will be the opportunity to get involved and 'adopt' an artwork and its conservation, or contribute in other ways to the ongoing care of the Fine Art Collection.
