The show features one man, 20 characters – and one ‘hell’ of a wedding. Newly weds, Curtis and Marion Argyle, cordially invite you to join them for an hilarious evening of Wedding Speeches. Simply raise your glass as a jealous racing commentator left out of the bridal party, toasts the groom. Please kindly resist the urge to intervene when Curtis' intoxicated father, Matthew, appoints himself MC for the evening.

Millen's brilliant one-man show, Wedding Speeches, serves up a wedding reception like no other. With the merry union of jealousy, over-indulgence and outrageous characters, Wedding Speeches is truly a theatrical match made in heaven. “With divorces skyrocketing during this recession, it’s nice to know that there’s 2 people who still believe in love!” says Baird. “Having said that, this wedding’s a joke!” The show has already enjoyed a successful national tour, garnering the following reviews:

"ingenious"

NBR

"remarkable"

The Dominion Post

"exceptional"

Theatreview

"there's no magic, just Baird"

Nelson Mail

Wedding Speeches was the inspiration for TV3's comedy series The Millen Baird Show, which met with excellent reviews last year. Described by The Dominion Post as "wonderful local comedy...witty, relevant and swiftly executed", there is talk of a second series later this year.
