Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Arts Festival present Eisenstein's world famous film BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN commemorates the mutiny on the Tsar's battleship at Odessa in 1905.
At the age of 28 the talented Eisenstien established his famous technique of creating a composite picture with this film. This film and the soundtrack is a very demanding and vivid work.
Eisenstein declared his wish that the score be rewritten every 20 years, in order to retain its relevance to each new generation. Chief Conductor, Tom Woods has chosen the film score of Arnim Brunner which uses the music of Shostakovich for what is going to be an epic and unique visual and musical experience.
