Past & Present
Whakakaiwhara Peninsula 11-22 August
Do you ever think about the land beneath your feet?
Historical treasures lying deep in the ground that would unfold stories of early human occupation.
My regular walk has led to a desire to delve into the history and interwoven threads of the Whakakaiwhara Peninsula in Clevedon.
I'm excited to present my interpretation of maori history extending back approx 650 years and to express creatively, my passion for this awe-inspiring coastal farm.
In 1995, the Whakakaiwhara Peninsula with its several archaeological sites, including the most significant, Whakakaiwhara Pa was purchased by the Auckland Regional Council and became Duder Regional Park.
You, the public, can enjoy some of the region's most spectacular 360 degree views over the Hauraki Gulf and feel the rich historical presence, isolation and tranquility of this wonderful part of New Zealand.
Exhibition opening Tuesday 11 August 5.30pm - 7pm.
Satellite Gallery will open at 11am on the 11th August prior to the official opening at 5.30pm. Some or all works may be sold prior to the opening.
Gallery Hours: Tues - Fri 11am-5pm, Sat 10am - 3pm
