What do you get when raw talent meets youth and beauty?

The unique sound and style of a young twenty-ish Welsh songstress by the name of Amy Duffy, or just plain Duffy as the world is coming to know and love her.

Blessed with a striking vocal range and an undeniable presence, this pocket-sized Welsh diva is bringing her phenomenal, distinctive voice and band to New Zealand in March/April 2009 for three very special shows.

Duffy first seeped into our consciousness earlier this year with the rhythmic grace of ‘Mercy,’ the first single from her classic retro-soul influenced album Rockferry.

This stunning debut effort achieved one million album sales in six short weeks after release and made the number 1 spot in 11 countries - including New Zealand where sales have now exceeded double platinum. Written and recorded with the help of former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Rockferry also boasts the emotionally soulful ballad, ‘Warwick Avenue.’

Blue-eyed soul does not come any better than this.

Don’t miss Duffy, live.

I've been very merciful towards my father. He's 63 and not far off retirement. He couldn't stand living with my mother so I have allowed him to come and live with me 4 nights a week as a compromise. This merciful act is 4 two years and is hard work. He expects to be cooked for, cleaned for and can't even operate the TV!! Time out at Duffy would really help.

I have mercy on people during rush hour traffic..if they really really want to get to work so quickly that they overtake me during rush hour, then I will let them pull in infront of me..even if they were behind me before!

I live in a small village and like to help a fellow world traveller along. He is 70, had a stroke when he was 50, lost his wife in his 50s so has had a tough time in a wheelchair since then, ending up in the local old people's home but zooming around the village each day. When he calls at our house I stop what I'm doing, offer him a drink, and have a chat - he also can't speak but just manages to write words (slowly!)in a notebook he carries. He loves nature (worked for Forestry) so we sit in the garden together for a while and admire the world we live in.

Stinkies - I think that I show mercy by putting up with people who smell on the bus. It least we are saving the planet by taking the bus.

I am showing mercy by giving up my much loved daily coffees for a month to raise the funds to take my beautiful Duffy loving daughter and her friend to the Duffy concert for her birthday. Meanwhile I will try and be merciful on everyone who crosses my path without my caffeine fix.

Mercy is the feeling that motivates compassion in our lives. I think the greatest act of mercy is to not only offer mercy to those that deserve it, but also to those who are undeserving. Sometimes being merciful can be as easy as trying to see things from the other person's perspective. This is how I am merciful... by not jumping to judgmental conclusions but allowing people the benefit of the doubt.

When I write an honest reply to a stupid or hurtful email - then delete rather than send - I'm being merciful. Years ago it used to be screwing up pages of hand-written replies. Live and let live - that's mercy.

I show mercy to all creatures big and small. I open windows for flies and moths, encouraging them to lead a free life outside. I carry ants, spiders and cockroaches out to join them. I open and close the door for my cat, and pay attention to other cats and dogs I meet. I feed the birds too.

I donate to charity and help others in my community. I tell people they're looking good, and if they're not I pretend not to notice. I praise my son's singing and my partner's cooking. I don't sing when others are around so they won't have to suffer.

Duffy is an inspiration, and I'd love to hear her in concert. If I had two tickets I would take my poorest friend to give her a treat too!

I show mercy on Australians... It may be an understatement to say they are our arch-rival in all things sport and culture, but the devastation and sadness that has descended upon them as a result of these raging fires across Victoria really has my heart and sympathies going out to them.

I show mercy on my father. My mother was driving him nuts so I let him move in with me and my partner. Now he's driving me nuts and seriously damaging my social life. This would be a great excuse to get out of the house!!
