Local guitar hero Harry Harrison has gathered the best of Christchurch's blues community and teamed them up with New Zealand blues legend Midge Marsden to present - Voice of the Blues.
Under the directorship of Harry Harrison, Voice of the Blues is a two part event. The first half of the show will see jazz/blues historian Neill Pickard take on the role of MC and host to a selection of Christchurch's finest blues singers and musicians, as they present a variety of blues music ranging from early Mississippi delta style to New Orleans, Texas, Chicago, country and jazz blends.
The second part of the concert fires it up with New Zealand's own iconic voice of the blues Midge Marsden, backed by Harry Harrison and the 'Down Home Shakedown' band. "Chugging rhythms, guitars, harmonica and horns blazing, here is a blues set that will swing, jump, jive and wail all the way down to your toes!'"
