Featuring some of Christchurch's top jazz musicians as both performers and composers, Symposium of Jazz builds on the successes of Jazz in the Cathedral from the last two Jazz festivals.

Set in the inspiring setting of ChristChurch Cathedral, composers Harry Harrison, Darren Pickering, Gwyn Reynolds, Cameron Pearce, Scott Taitoko and Tom Rainey - all members of the CPIT Music Arts faculty respond to the space and acoustic with pieces written specially for this concert. The variety of backgrounds and experiences of these musicians promises a colourful tapestry of styles and timbres.

Coming together into the CPIT Jazz Ensemble - an octet comprising of the composers and others the skills of these performers and improvisers promises a special night of jazz, set in one of New Zealand's most recognisable and inspiring sacred spaces.
