The Loons adopts an orphan or two…
When you start at the bottom of the heap, the only way is up. This optimistic view of the world sees Javier Jarquin and Daniel Bain take on New Zealand as the 'Orphans of Comedy', which starts at The Loons on Wednesday April 29th. Abandoned by fate, these two were raised in a comedy wilderness. Now, with a knapsack full of wit, a twinkle in their eyes and a smudge on their cheek, they've turned up on the doorstep and are ready to be adopted by an audience.
Bain and Jarquin teamed up previously to create the 2007 variety comedy show 'Sharp', and while 'Sharp' made use of their physical and improv skills, this year's show features more traditional stand-up comedy. Bain says the name 'Orphans of Comedy' comes from the fact that "as a comedian sometimes you feel abandoned to the big wide world, and because we're pickpockets".
For a great night of slick observations and abstract anecdotes, come and check out these 'Orphans of Comedy' before they get famous.
