Following the recent death of Harold Pinter, The Loons is proud to present 'The Dumb Waiter', along with some of Pinter's short sketches, as part of our April theatre season.
Pinter's short plays, just like his longer pieces, use silence and cryptic small talk to increase the tension that lies beneath the surface of the event or situation. One of his earlier pieces, The Dumb Waiter (1960), is the feature performance in this Pinter season at The Loons in Lyttelton.
"An Evening With Mr Pinter" features Tom Trevella (The Butler) as a hitman in The Dumb Waiter. The play is set in an abandoned restaurant basement, where two hired killers pass the time until their next assignment by bickering with each other. The evening also includes a number of Pinter's revue sketches.
