THE TEDS are four very experienced Auckland musicians who invite their audience to re-live the nostalgia of the 1950’s and ‘60’s through the fabulous music called Rock ‘n Roll that spelt freedom to countless teenagers of the time.
The name THE TEDS is derived from the ‘Teddy Boys’, groups of rebellious young people living in England during the 1950’s who were influenced by early chart hits from groups such as Billy Haley and the Comets, who had a massive worldwide hit with Rock Around the Clock.
THE TEDS recapture those heady days through their exciting rock ‘n roll performances of the hits of the period through the 1950’s to late ‘60’s.
The line-up of guitars, keyboards, bass and drums includes Bill London (ex Aussie Pleazers) on guitar, piano and lead vocals, Ian Smillie lead guitar and vocals (ex James Ray Band), Londoner Dave Earnshaw on bass and vocals, and Mal Finlayson (ex Silhouettes) drums.
The band, dressed in genuine long drape jackets, puts on a spectacular show with its own dynamic lighting and performing through a high quality, imported D.A.S sound system ensuring a clean, full, professional sound suitable for all types of functions.
THE TEDS perform regularly at a number of venues both around Auckland and further afield, including starring at the famous Winter Sun Festival in Coolangatta, Australia two years running.
