Having performed to wide acclaim in over 24 cities around the world, including London, Paris, Venice, Madrid and New York, and garnered a string of five-star reviews, PUSH comes to the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE® for two stunning performances.

In PUSH, the legendary French dancer Sylvie Guillem, widely regarded as the most “brilliant ballerina of her generation” THE GUARDIAN, is joined on stage by one of the UK’s most acclaimed dance artists, Russell Maliphant. “A choreographer of persistent accomplishment and a performer of enduring fascination . . . mesmerising.” THE TIMES.

PUSH combines the abilities of this extraordinary partnership and together they create a performance that can only be described as riveting.

“It’s a pairing made in Heaven.”  5 stars THE TIMES

This enthralling programme features the following work:
PUSH – This glamorous duet caused a sensation when it premiered at Sadler’s Wells in London. PUSH brings into play all the qualities Maliphant’s work is famous for – its hypnotic beauty, its serene strength – while Guillem gives one of the most extraordinary performances of her career.

Solo is performed to the Spanish guitar music of Carlos Montoya; Guillem winds herself around the language, brimming with undulating arms, beautiful barefoot ballet feet and a breathtaking sense of line.

The evening is completed by Shift, Maliphant’s signature solo, a virtual duet between Russell Maliphant the dancer and the ingenious lighting of Michael Hulls, and the powerful driving solo, Two, performed by Guillem, and one of Maliphant’s most dazzling and original creations.

The four pieces are complemented by lighting designed by Maliphant’s long-time collaborator Michael Hulls, reflecting the flow and energy between movement and light.

“ . . . comes as close to perfection as dance can . . . it lingers in the mind long after the curtain has fallen . . . dance you want to watch forever.” THE TELEGRAPH

Since its debut in 2005, PUSH has received four major awards: an Olivier Award, a Time Out Award, Best Choreography (Modern) at the National Dance Awards and the South Bank Show Dance Award.

PUSH is produced by Sadler’s Wells in collaboration with Russell Maliphant and Sylvie Guillem and was commissioned by Sadler’s Wells.

The works will be performed in the following order:
Solo
Shift
Two
Push

When you have the same goals and dreams and stick together through everything no matter what.

This is what my grandparents did- they went through owning only the clothes off their backs to working together as a team to make millions! (Grandma made the threat that she'd leave him if grandad didn't make some money- and it worked!) I really admire that. They ended up buying houses for their whole family on the same street but still remained the same down-to-earth good people.

The greatest partnership is having a child together - not just the time of conception, although that is often such an enviable occasion too, but the time of the birth, when you need each other so much to face the fears, the anguish, the excitement, the pain, the worry, and the bundle of joy at the end.

Partnership is when you complement each other with each other's strengths, compensating for each other's weaknesses. It brings the best out of two entities, making them more powerful as one.

Partnership - I think God creates things in two with the view of them working as one....
Legs - One pushes the whole body forward whilst the other provides support for the action. The support given is key!

The most beautiful partnership I have ever been involved in is with my current partner. I can honestly say I have never felt more safe and special than when I am with him. I have never been happier in my life than when I have been with him, and cannot see how it is possible to be happier.

My best partnership is with my current partner Trudi. I am an athletic bodybuilder and she is a vegetarian. We should really be chalk and cheese but we come together nicely. She says it's refreshing that she's not the one making the fuss at a restaurant because I am very fussy with what I eat! This would be awesome to go to, thanks for the opportunity to enter.

Collaboration is a popular word in the corporate team building event. People usually think about what to do to achiving the goal, team mates are assigned specific tasks and hopefully collaborated among the team members. Least that people notice the key to achieving collaboration is communication; the team that see through this important aspect, usually win.

My best partnership is with my husband. We have been married 43 years. We worked together in schools where he was the principal for 11 years. In all of our married life we have never had arguments or got off side with oneanother. We have brought up three lovely daughters and now have several fabulous grandchildren. We live each day fully and make the most of being together now that I am working part time. He is the love of my life and together we have made a great partnership over the years.

Wow i don't think i can compete with the two below comments. But why not give it a try - thats the kiwi spirit right. My best collaboration is with my mum ... she is my mother, my friend, my confidant and my spiritual adviser. There is nothing i wouldn't do for her and her for me. Though we go through our ups and downs I am truely blessed by the parent i was given. Thank you mum - you are and always be the wind beneath my wings.

The most beautiful partnership I have had the privilege to be a part of is between a young man I met by accident through a haphazard text a year ago. We've never met but have somehow created an invisible, cross-country, creative collaboration by being each other's sounding boards, listening posts, mentors, critics, supporters, confidantes and measures of excellence. He is, by birth, a musician and I, by name, am an artist......and somehow we manage to fill each other's productive blindspots......and as a result, found an ethereal mutuality and co-existence that I don't think could ever have been conceived had we met.

My best collaboration was with my kapahaka group from between 1997 - 2000. We got together an awsome group of students from Auckland University and really worked to our collective strengths. My strength was logistics and planning practices, transport, food and fundraising. Erana was responsible for updatiing costumes and keeping disciple. Dom and Val played guitar, Val composed, Summer did poi and action song actions. We were a pumping group and performed at many functions around Auckland including Firedance and Pasifika fashion awards.
