Alongside French composer Arthur Honegger's colourful and exciting oratorio "King David" Auckland Choral presents a mix of more familiar music. Last sung by the choir in 2002, "King David" includes vocal soloists and narrator to re-tell the dramatic biblical story. “King David” was devised as theatre music for a play and in that version it shot the young composer to fame. He later reworked the music as an oratorio with narrator.

Under the baton of new Music Director Uwe Grodd, the choir will also sing one of Bruckner’s best-loved motets, and one of Handel's Coronation Anthems. We've also asked top New Zealand organist to play Bach’s ever-popular "Toccata and Fugue in D minor".

Bruckner - Virga Jesse
Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Handel - The King Shall Rejoice (Coronation Anthem)
Honegger – King David

Soprano - Anna Cors
Tenor - John Murray
Narrator - Raymond Hawthorne
Organ - John Wells
Instrumental ensemble from the Auckland Philharmonia
Conductor - Uwe Grodd
