The university of Waikato Music Department presents a recital by Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov.

Melnikov is one of the finest musicians of his generation, sought after on the concert stages of Europe. This recital offers the poetic virtuosity of Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, Scriabin’s individual evocations of the spirits of Chopin and Liszt, followed by the staggering brilliance of the first of Prokofiev’s great War Sonatas.
