Baroque Voices take their audience on a spellbinding adventure in late 16th century music. This wonderful Wellington based vocal ensemble perform with Phantastic Spirits, five of our country’s top early music instrumentalists, in a beautiful recital for the Festival.
The works in this programme originate from the dawn of the Baroque era – engaging madrigals for unaccompanied voices and spirited ensemble works for violin, viol, bass viol, double harp, organ and virginal. The haunting sound of the cornetto adds another dimension to the evocative timbres of this early music ensemble.
