Presented by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra

Some of the finest and most impressive music written is for choir and orchestra. For the first time, the APO presents a special concert to showcase this repertoire.

Programme

Stravinsky - Les Noces
Haydn - Mass in Time of War (Paukenmesse)

Otto Tausk - conductor
Merlyn Quaife - soprano
Milijana Nikolic - alto
Keith Lewis - tenor
Paul Whelan - bass

Michael Houstoun, Diedre Irons, Andrea Katz & Alexander Melnikov - piano

The Graduate Choir
Terence Maskell - Director of Music

Bringing together a stellar cast of soloists and a full choir, the APO celebrates the expressive richness of works written for the human voice. Les Noces, Stravinsky’s emotional depiction of a Russian wedding, features four grand pianos on stage. We also feature Haydn’s moving prayer for peace, Mass in Time of War.

Free pre-concert talk 7pm in stalls.
