Newcastle was the fairytale of the 2007/08 Hyundai A-League campaign and the reigning Hyundai A-League champions will be looking to build on the success of last season. The Jets have had a massive turnover of players in the off-season with no less than four of their Grand Final-winning squad leaving. Two of them have joined the Phoenix - man of the match in the grand final and new Phoenix captain, Andrew Durante, and under 23 Australia representative Troy Hearfield.

Newcastle will be keen to overturn the result the last time these two teams met when the Phoenix ran out 3-2 winners at Newcastle’s EnergyAustralia Stadium. With his new club and team mates around him, Andrew Durante will be looking to captain the winning side this time!
