Get Back To Your Roots

CHANGE OF PLANS . . .
Event now on:
Saturday 29 November 2008
Bands kick off from 6.00pm until late
Location: Lake House Tavern, Rotorua

The Blue Lake Music Festival (was Blue Lake Dub Experience) was back again, this time on Saturday November 29, 2008, at the same beautiful venue, the Blue Lake Domain in Rotorua. However, due to low ticket sales the organisers have sadly cancelled the event ... kind of. It has been changed to an indoor venue on the same day, at the Lake House Tavern on Lake Road in Rotorua. The bands kick off from around 6pm until late. The band line up now includes dDub, The Retainers, 1814, Masef and Roots Battalion. As it is in the pub it is now an R18 event with alcohol and food on site. Tickets are on sale now from The Lake House for $25, limited space. Come on, get back to your roots and support Aotearoa music.

Check out http://www.bluelakemusicfestival.co.nz for more details.

"I See a Sign" by dDub - I've never seen them live, but I can just imagine how they would make the guitar riff linger that little longer in anticipation of what' to come - it'd be jut like floating on a cloud.

I'll take you there -Lee 'Scratch' Perry this song just sums up that reggae/dub/roots feel all in one -it reminds you that all that matters in this life is Love & Music :)
(But you cannot forget the amazing drumming in Mad Professors Kunta Kinte Dub {early 90's})

'For the love of it' by Salmonella Dub would have to be my favourite. Not only is it a great song both musically and lyrically but it envokes many happy memories in me. I am sure that this song has been playing in the backgound of all the good times i have had since 1999 (and thats a lot of good times).

"Love your ways" by Salmonella Dub.....

I would love to win the tickets for my friend Monique who is a HUGE kiwi music fan.
But the best part is that her most favourite place IN THE WORLD (and she's travelled) are the Blue Lakes ...every summer with her friends and a little boat.
I can just picture her there taking in all the great music of The Blue Lakes Music Festival and enjoying her "happy place" ie the blue lakes far far away from work and bills and recessions and enjoying life's moments with great friends and music in the place she loves the most.

"Hey Girl" by Katchafire - from the Slow Burning album.

My mates and I used to drive out to the Blue Lake when I was living in Rotoz a few years back and listen to that song on a mean summers day. It was usually on a Friday afternoon when we had finished course at Waiariki for the day. We'd get us a feed of BK on the way out and then chill at a picnic table or on the grass, shades on and jandals off.
Logie's voice is so mellow and cool in this song and it has a mean drop, it just makes me feel so laxed.
When I listen to it now, the dub sounds of that song remind of those cruzy times and I can picture the green bush, the water and picturesque surroundings. Mean.

So pick one favourite out of many favourites...
