One of the world's best-loved music idols, STEVIE WONDER, has announced that he will play at the famed TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on Saturday November 1 in a SPECIAL ENCORE CONCERT that will showcase his 30 amazing years of hits.
This will be a spectacular, one-night only concert, at a venue favoured by international performers for its beauty as a natural, open-air amphitheatre overlooking a stunning lake. Tickets to this concert experience will go on sale on Thursday, September 25 through Ticketek.
Stevie Wonder released the first live performance track to reach the top of the U.S. charts with Fingertips Part II. His amazing career has earned him 49 Top-40 singles, 32 No. 1 singles, an Academy Award for I Just Called to Say I love You, plus Billboard's 2004 Century Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, alongside the Rolling Stones.
In 1983, Wonder spearheaded the realisation of Martin Luther King Day as a national U.S. holiday. His participation in the massive 1985 We Are The Word fundraiser for hunger in Africa was a music industry milestone, while his involvement to put an end to apartheid in South Africa is legendary.
Stevie Wonder was the youngest honoree of the prestigious Kennedy Centre Honors. At the 22nd Kennedy Centre Honors in 1999, President Clinton remarked: "In so many ways (Wonder) has helped to compose the remaining passages of Dr. King's legacy." But it is Wonder's song writing legacy that has inexorably connected him to the world. From Motown prodigy to groundbreaking innovator, he has always believed in music as a transformational force.
