Celebrate the 2008 Waiheke harvest of extra virgin olive oil at the olive festival on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November, 11.00am - 5.00pm. Jazz, food, art, wine and song in the olive grove.

Tempt your taste buds. Meet the olive growers, taste the new season olive oil releases, recognised as some of the best in the world and buy at festival prices.

The island’s olive harvest has high recognition from New Zealand awards to international acclaim. The olive tasting room opens to the grove with delectable foods including oysters, paella, pizza, coffee and Waiheke Island wines.

Be inspired. Free cooking demonstrations by inspirational cooks. Fresh flavours using extra virgin olive oil with Cable Bay Vineyard head chef, Will Thorpe; international cook book author and food editor Next magazine, Pippa Cuthbert and Waiheke foodwriter and cook, Sarah La Touche.

Free seminars each day including an appreciation of extra virgin olive oil, the elixir for life, with New Zealand's olive oil specialist Margaret Edwards. Taste and learn about olive oils. They do not all taste the same, learn why. Take a tour of the Rangihoua olive press room.

Enjoy Waiheke Island’s olive oil, wine, food, art and live jazz by Maria O’Flaherty and The Ben Fernandez Quartet in the olive grove. Serving a recipe for jazz form smooth swing, spicy sambas, hot funk mixed with bebop and a dash of blues. Sister Shout will also burst into song.

New to the festival Sculpture Walk in the grove, Art Out There, from Waiheke Community Art Gallery. Come and enjoy the olive festival on Waiheke.
