“It’s official: Tim and his fellow Charlatans can execute a stunning live performance. Mind you, with a career spanning two decades, it comes as no surprise.” - THE DAILY STAR

“The last band standing from the “Madchester” boom of the early 1990s has entered the digital age in unexpectedly rude health.” - 4 STARS, FINANCIAL TIMES

“You Cross My Path . . . it may be their best effort . . . ” - 4 STARS, THE GUARDIAN

“They’ve made their finest album since 1995’s The Charlatans” - MOJO

“Mourn no more. Tim Burgess’ mob has made the best New Order album in ages. This is also the best Charlies album since Tellin’ Stories.” - 4 STARS, THE INDEPENDENT

Ragged Company is proud to announce that one of the UK’s most esteemed bands - The Charlatans will be touring New Zealand for the very first time in November. The Charlatans formed in 1989 and first tasted chart success with their second single The Only One I Know, which hit the UK Top 10 the following year. They have since gone on to establish themselves as a major force in the British music scene, enjoying nine Top 10 albums (including three Number Ones) and twenty-two Top 40 singles to date.

To coincide with their first New Zealand tour The Charlatans will also be promoting their 10th studio album, You Cross My Path available on Cooking Vinyl through Shock Records. Recorded in Los Angeles, Ireland and the band’s own studio, Big Mushroom, in Cheshire the album has been heralded as nothing less than a masterpiece and was mixed by Britain’s premier alternative rock producers Alan Moulder (The Cure, Jesus & Mary Chain, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins).

You Cross My Path became one of the most talked about records in the UK in recent years, when The Charlatans announced earlier this year that they were giving the entire album away for free as an MP3 format via popular alternative UK radio station Xfm’s website. The album when released on the web resulted in over 60,000 downloads which was the equivalent to a Number 2 UK chart position in sales.

As The Charlatans approach their twentieth anniversary, their music continues to be just as inspirational to hundreds of thousands of fans as it did when they first appeared on the British music scene. Being The Charlatans first time to step on Australasian soil fans will be very excited to catch the band live and local for the very first time.

Tickets available from Ticketek and Real Groovy (09) 302 3940.

I'd like to cross paths with my 13 year old self and tell her which are the right decisions to make in "our" life, what's important and what's irrelevant.

I asked my younger sister who she would like to cross her path... the 15 year old looked at me confused and said "I dont have a path"

I would like the richest person in the world to cross my path when they are in a good mood, maybe a slight donation would be good!

For pure and utter "stare and fall-on-my-face" factor, I would like to cross path with Ioan Gruffudd

I'd like to cross paths with the age of vinyl .... there's still something to be said for the purists! Although it is a stroke of genius to release your album online in this day and age.... go the Charlatans!

I'd be just as happy to go up to Auckland and cross paths with some old friends, give the tickets to my niece and babysit her kids so she could have a great night out!

I wish Frank N Furter would cross my path, so I could drag him to Caluzzi.
