His solo album The Crowd has hit New Zealand music shelves, and his first single Never Too Late has been in the top 10 radio airplay charts for four straight weeks. Now, Nathan King is ready to showcase his new collection of finely crafted tunes in a one-off Auckland gig on Wednesday 19 November at the stunning St Matthew in the City.

King's album has been hailed as a collection of 'genuinely heartfelt’ songs. The album was written over several years’ and if the immediate radio success of the album's first single is anything to go by, this show promises a night not to be missed.

Years of touring with the highest calibre of artists with his band Zed have provided King with everything needed to deliver a stunning live show.

The Christchurch-born performer laid down the bones of The Crowd while honing his skills in the UK and mainland Europe, and the 19 November gig marks his first live appearance in his country of origin since 2006. King says he has long anticipated this all-important homecoming.

"You learn so much about performance and about musical craft while living in a place like London. You’re surrounded by so many influential players, it can’t help but rub off, " says King.

"Auckland is going to be a great night. There will be nerves, sure, but there will be plenty of passion and an immense sense of pride in playing these songs live for the first time at home, and in such a breathtaking venue."

Supported by Luke Thompson who will open the show, King has enlisted the help of an immensely talented back-up band for the gig, featuring Joe Faris on guitar and backing vocals, Mike Kemps on bass and Jonathan Wilson on drums. King also promises some other special guests on the night.

Tickets are on sale from Ticketmaster from Thursday 16 October. Doors to St Matthew in the City open at 7.30pm with the first notes struck at 8.00pm.

The Crowd is released by Hum Records and is available in all good music stores and music sites.
