They've sold more than 65 million albums, played to more than 50 million fans and have produced a series of classic rock albums that helped define a generation of music.

Just say the words Pyromania, Hysteria and Adrenalize and it can be no other than DEF LEPPARD!

Andrew McManus Presents is thrilled to announce the British rock heavyweights will include Auckland New Zealand in the world tour for their new album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge in what will be their first visit since 1992.

The DEF LEPPARD story is now down in rock history. From humble beginnings in Sheffield 30 years ago, the band became a world conquering musical force. They have garnered almost every accolade and award available in the music industry and are one of an elite few (along with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd,
U2 and the Eagles) to have received two Diamond awards for individual album sales in excess of a staggering 10 million units for the ground-breaking Pyromania (1983) and Hysteria (1987).

With singles like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Love Bites, Rocket, Rock Of Ages, Armageddon It, Let's Get Rocked and Photograph, DEF LEPPARD became a staple at rock radio all over the world.

But it hasn't all been incredible highs. The band has weathered some devastating tragedies including the death of original guitarist Steve Clarke after a drug overdose, and drummer Rick Allen's car accident, which resulted in him loosing an arm.

However the band - Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Vivian Campbell (guitar), Rick 'Sav' Savage (bass) and Rick Allen (drums) - have stuck together and are now back in the spotlight with a new album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge - their first new material in six years.

The first single Nine Lives, a collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw, hit #1 at US and UK rock radio, while the album debuted at #5 on the US Billboard chart, their 11th consecutive US Top 20 album.

Also on the bill is one of Melbourne's current buzz bands THE GALVATRONS. This synth-rock four-piece have just released their debut EP When We Were Kids, had rave reviews on their first trip to the UK and are due back there soon for the European summer festival circuit. Their unique sound and up-vibe live show will kick off the night perfectly.

DEF LEPPARD's spectacular live shows have made them a touring institution, as they continue to sell out arenas around the world - get set for an unforgettable, not to be missed, night of classic rock!

    *Feeling "pyromania" lighting the growth of sound becuase of the life which brings on that feeling of "hysteria".*
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    They, Def Leppard who all have taken it to the top, here or there.
    On a long road of ups and downs and rounds and rounds, trying to fight that certain something to satisfy that "pyromania" hunger just to carry on.
    Naturally feeling that fire of "hysteria" .
    Def Leppard have sparked with all their trials in their music.
    Very much admired and respected by myself and my husband who are devoted to their rock.
    Hysteria's the word that describes just what i feel,
    When i hear Def Leppard playing, there's just nothing that's more real,
    I could listen to their lyrics all night long, they're just so great,
    Pyromania's the best, without a doubt, it's no debate!
    So turn their music up, let their songs become your pleasure,
    For in my heart, Def Leppard, will always be my treasure!!
    I've been a Def Leppard fan since 1980, so to show my enthusiasm, here is a poem from Def Leppard's studio albums:
    On through the night - come on get this show on the road.
    It's Saturday night, I'm not a fool, you trying to leave me high'n dry.
    It's better to burn out than fade away, no fire brigade just a pyromania.
    I get hysterical, hysteria, oh I can feel it.
    I'm adrenalized, your average ordinary everyday kid, do you wanna get rocked or slanged?
    So slang with me, I don't wanna get my hands dirty.
    Here I am your demolition man,
    Unbelievable, it's unbeliavable yeah
    I'm your 20th century boy, just like Robin Hood
    Love, Love look what you've done to my heart.
    The Hysteria at winning tickets to see my alltime fave group of the 80's would be too much it would reduce me to Pyromania, burning the albums of bands who just can't compare,they would need to Pour Some Sugar On Me to control the Animal i had become.
    Hubby started to get this strange HYSTERIA about him when he heard Dep Leppard were coming to NZ, I was TWO STEPS BEHIND. Our 18 year old boarder when into a UNBELIEVABLE state of PYROMANIA over how EXCITABLE we were. I said POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME and MAKE LOVE LIKE A MAN. Let's get tickets and LET'S GET ROCKED. ;)
    It was December 31 1984 we were on the way to a New Year's eve party in Sheffield ,UK. Rick was driving his Corvette when an Alfa Romeo passed us. Rick and the driver had a "Grease" style drag off. Rick lost control of his car, causing him to be thrown from the car.Ricks left arm came flying off!
    This resulted in a uncontrollable episode of HYSTERIA,I was hanging upside down next to Rick listening to him proclaim he was going to keep playing the drums even if he had to use his feet! I was in shock and had gone a little crazy so in a frenzy i reached into my pocket grabbed my lighter and set fire to the petrol that was seeping from the car. I was later arrested on PYROMANIA charges and I am still currently undergoing professional help.
    What I feel?.. feel?.. I guess it's curiosity... does the drummer from def leppard only have one arm? blah blah pyromaniac... blah blah hysteria... honestly though... does he only have one arm? it looks as though the guy third from the left may only have one arm... hmm.. . much to ponder indeed...
    When a friend of mine asked me if I was going to Def Leppard I said... hmmm whos that, He looked at me as if I was a pyromanic! Then said nevermind ... but they are the best, you have really lead a sheltered life... Id like to go to this concert to prove that I dont suffer from musical hysteria...
    I need a ticket for my partner who nearly turned into a pyromanic when he heard I was going to become a police officer!! How would this match with his Rocker image? Imagine his hysteria as I give him the tickets to one of the ultimate rock bands ever! He can still live out his rocker ways and keep his police officer partner as his dirty secret.
    Leaving me without a ticket to Def Leppard is like a leaving pyromaniac with fire. I need to feel the hysteria of winning a ticket! Last time I went I was in the 90's and I couldn't see the stage through the dreadlocked guy in front of me - I need another chance!
    When you look up Hysteria in Wikipedia you are told that in its colloquial use, describes a state of mind, one of unmanageable fear or emotional excesses. This is what Def Leppard is about. Not the fear side but definately emotional excesses. Def Leppard have always been my favourite band and the arrival of certain songs at appropriate times in my life have meant that certain words, certain songs will always maintain that emotional impact on me.
    My partner bought me a Def Leppard DVD for Christmas in 2006 which on opening I also found my engagement ring as he asked me to marry him.
    Pyromaniacs start fires to induce euphoria and it's that fire in me when I listen to Def Leppard that brings about a feeling of euphoria.
    Def Leppard are more than just a band. They are family and stand by each other. When Rick lost his arm in a car accident it would have been so easy to just get another drummer but they didn't. They stood by him and waited.....and supported him. And here they are YEARS
    Women! I was fine before they started bringing on the heartache and I learnt young that love bites. All these broken hearts made me a little excitable at first but then suddenly, like white lightning, it developed into full blown hysteria and I became a total animal. After being arrested for Pyromania, having my photograph in the paper I decided to work it out. The Dr said 'Step inside, walk this way' and then poured some sugar on me. I said goodbye to him but knew I had a long long way to go. The only other known cure is the Rock of Ages. Yes, all I want is everything but some tickets to Def Leppard will do nicely in the meantime!!
