More excitement than the biscuit aisle at Foodtown!

Read the book ’Are You My Mother?’ then merge it with ‘Came a Hot Friday’ and you have mastered Figgie’s ethnic background Northland’s most successful comedian, Figjam, returns to this year’s NZ International Comedy Festival.

In last year’s festival Fig co-created a the show ‘Whakas’, which explored and reflected the awkwardness of going onto a Marae when you don’t know anything about the protocol. Even more scary if you’re a Maori and have never even been to a Marae . . .

This year Fig is going solo and his new show content covers all aspects of how people identify and group themselves. Throughout his life he has been the stirrer in society’s melting pot of culture. In an hour of stand-up he will give the audience a taste of all the dumb things he has done and seen as a Maori-Kiwi-Aussie-Jew from the Far North. He will champion the idea that it’s more than okay to be a half-brown kiwi, and the politicians should stop trying to make us chose a side of the fence.

Fig Jam – As seen on TV, and soon to be seen on billboards around Auckland, Fig’s comedy is largely based on true life experiences. Coming from the Far North town of Kaitaia, he is the first comic to come out of the small town. He’s been through many different career changes before taking the comedy stage in 2005, at one point he went from driving trucks in Hamilton to International Flight Attendant for Qantas.

Natural and comfortable on stage, he is proud of his background and the characters that feature in it.

Rated PGR….hopefully… no promises!
