Written by Eric Chappell, author of "Rising Damp" and "Only When I laugh", a murder-mystery thriller set in the Summer End retirement home.

Cantankerous resident Emily is certain that her room mate Bella was murdered by one of the caregivers, in collusion with the home's aging sex-symbol Vernon Watts. She has the evidence and tries, with difficulty, to convince her new room mate May that now they may both be in danger. However, when her 'evidence' disappears and the manager suggests that 'she isn't in full possession of her faculties', events begin to overtake her . . .

Summer End is written with Eric Chappell's usual dry wit and , in this funny but touching character study of two elderly ladies whose friendship grows as they face suspicion and adversity, shows his acute understanding of not only the frustrations but also the humour of the aging process.
