More than 15 volunteer and emergency services organisations will unite at North Harbour Stadium on 29 March, to provide the public a rare behind the scenes glimpse into their daily roles.
A series of displays and emergency scenarios will be on showcased by volunteer and emergency services. Organisations such as the New Zealand Fire Service, New Zealand Police, Camp Quality, SPCA and Urban Search and Rescue will demonstrate the importance of volunteer groups in our communities and show the types of incidents our emergency services deal with every day.
More than one million New Zealanders are involved in volunteer work, greatly contributing to their communities in areas such as education, social services, health, recreation and the arts. This annual event aims to engage the community with some of these volunteer organisations and raise desperately needed funding for one charitable organization each year.
This year, donations from the event will go towards the Burns Support Charitable Trust, a voluntary organisation based at Middlemore Hospital. The Trust works with people suffering from burns to support their rehabilitation back into the community, while also providing awareness and fire safety education.
So bring along your family to show your support for the volunteers and emergency services in your community.
