Rockonz Concert Dance

The ROCKONZ Concert/Dance - (highlighting music from the late 1950's, 1960's and early 70's), has a pre-event celebration at 7.00pm with Rock 'n' Roll music and dancing in the Christchurch Town Hall Foyer.

The concert stars the grand old man of New Zealand Rock and Roll - Johnny Devlin (of the Lawdy Miss Clawdy days) - still in top form and backed by the Australian band, the Tornadoes, who have had several big hits of their own.

Shane Cortese (Dancing with the Stars - Shortland Street - Rocky Horror Show - Outrageous Fortunes) and the Class of 58 with Suzanne Lynch (The Chicks) plus a lineup of entertainers from Christchurch. These include Peter Williams, (Max Merrit and the Meteors, The Groove), Pat Kearns (Mark Anthony) Dion and Cecile Murphy (Sabra) Jon McCrea MC (Jonathon Jay), Norm Bland (The Village Gate, Rythmn & Bland), Kelly Ensor and About Time - Peter Sowden (Max Merrit & the Meteors), Brian Ringrose (The Invaders), Trevor Wright, The Detours, Don Mills (Paris) Jim Phillips Sax (The Detours).

These performers arrive in limousines to a 'red carpet' welcome at the Town Hall steps. The concert/dance starts at 7.30pm and continues until around 11.00pm. Dressing to the times and dancing by the audience, in the Town Hall auditorium, is encouraged. Relive the magic! Dance, dress up and have a good time.
